Microfinance Projects
One of the approaches to breaking the poverty cycle in developing countries is to provide the ability for people to obtain loans -- sometimes less than $50 -- to start up small cash businesses.
The following projects are based on this approach:
Women's Empowerment Program Phase 1: Project AP041-06
(Rotary Club of Claremont Cottesloe)
Providing a small loan financing facility fo advise and provide loans to women who are economically prejudiced because of their social and cultural predicaments. In Meru, Kenya.
Women's Empowerment Program Phase 2: Project WR502-2008
(Rotary Club of Claremont Cottesloe)
Microfinance, West Timor: Project AP045-07
(Rotary Clubs of Heirisson, Subiaco and Western Endeavour)
Using $10,000 to start a "Trust Bank" to enable a group of 25-30 poor families to progress their small business ventures. In partnership with Opportunity International Australia (OIA).
