AFRICA

Transport of Medical Equipment to Lesotho:  Project AP042-06

Raising funds to pay for the transport of a donated coagulation analyser, to diagnose haemophilia and other bleeding disorders, and physiotherapy equipment from Perth WA to Lesotho.  Project completed successfully

Dolls for Orphans:  Project AP015-2005
(Rotary Club of Darling Range)
Providing hand-made dolls for HIV-AIDS orphans in Africa.

DIK School Furniture & Supplies: Project WR707-2008
(Rotary Club of Darling Range)
This Donations in Kind (DIK) project collects surplus school furniture and other equipment anf ships it to a needy Zulu school in Durban, South Africa. 
 
Kengele Children's Network Phase 1:  Project WR507-2008
(Rotary Club of Western Endeavour)
Promoting child participation for social change in one of the largest slums in Kenya.  The project includes a mentorship program to guide the children. 
 
Kengele Children's Network Phase 2:  Project WR511-2009
(Rotary Club of Western Endeavour)
Building on the success of Phase 1 with activities such as development of child facilitators, provision of study centres, a children's magazine, training in puppetry as a means of communications, and a mentorship program. 
 
Kathwana Centre for Learning #1:  Project WR509-2009

Providing roadworks, walkways, a water supply, generator and cooking stoves for a new Boarding School in a marginalised region of central Kenya.

Providing school desks and chairs, dining tables and benches, and beds and mattresses for a new Boarding School in a marginalised region of central Kenya.

The Joyce Project: Project AP057-07
(Rotary Club of Kalamunda)
Bringing a young burns victim from Zambia to Perth, Western Australia, for treatment by burns specialist, Professor Fiona Wood, then building an independent life for Joyce when she returns home to Ndola, Zambia

Kangeta Day Care Centre - Phase 1:  Project AP033-06
(Rotary Club of Claremont Cottesloe)
Constructing a classroom and kitchen at a Day Care Centre for orphans whose poverty and physical handicaps prevent them going to school.

 


BALI

Smiley Face: Project 130-2004

Enables Balinese children born with a “cleft lip” to have corrective surgery to enable them to live a normal life.

Cambodia

Tilang Kindergarten, Flores:  Project AP044-07
(Rotary Club of Hillarys)
Building and fitting out a new kindergarten in the village of Tilang on the Indonesian island of Flores.

INDIA

Home for Seniors:  Tsunami Project AP014/2005
(Rotary Club of Midland)
The elderly people in this area are very much the forgotten ones in tsunami relief programs.  This project provides accommodation for senior citizens displaced by the tsunami disaster and seeking refuge in the area of the New Hope Rural Leprosy Trust, which is a partner in the project.  Location is Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India.

INDONESIA

Rotary Youth Centre of Banda Aceh
(Eastern Region)
This project provided a Rotary Youth Centre supporting the displaced young people of Banda Aceh and surrounding communities as they recovered from the trauma of the tsumamis of 26 December 2004.

Tilang Kindergarten, Flores:  Project AP044-07

Building and fitting out a new kindergarten in the village of Tilang on the Indonesian island of Flores.

Samoa

Donations in Kind - Samoa:  Project WR504-2008

Providing donated hospital beds, other medical equipment and children's books to support  health and literacy projects in the Wesern Pacific island nation of Samoa.

SRI LANKA

Rebuilding Lives in Sri Lanka: Tsunami Project AP001
(Rotary Club of Whitfords, Rotary Club of Colombo)
Rebuilding the village of Ulla, which was totally devastated by the tsunamis of 26 December 2004.  The new Rotary Village at Sengaman has 46 homes and a Community Hall with rooms for visiting medical and care workers.

Building a community village in the Galle Region for about 35 families who lost their homes in the tsunamis.

THAILAND

Operation Rotary Cares:  Tsunami Project AP003
(Rotary Clubs of Nedlands and Joondalup)
Building new homes for Thai families left homeless by the tsunamis of 26 December 2004.  Partnering with the combined Rotary Districts in Thailand.

TIMOR LESTE

Dental Services, Bakhita: Project AP009 
(RC of Applecross)
Establishment and operation of a dental clinic at the Bakhita Centre, Eraulo, Letefoho, Ermera, Timor Leste.
