Burma Cyclone Disaster
One of the first emergency response teams into Burma was the ShelterBox team, providing shelter, bedding and basic survival equipment for survivors of the cyclone.  The first shipment of 200 ShelterBoxes, each providing shelter for 10 people, arrived in Burma from Dubai within days of the disaster.  Further shipments followed from stockpiles in the UK and in Melbourne, Australia.
Each ShelterBox costs $1200. To support the ShelterBox program, RAWCS-WR has created a funding project that allows donations to be tax-deductible and for donations of less than $1200 to be pooled to buy ShelterBoxes for Burma and to replenish the stockpile, ready for the next disaster.  For further details, see project WR104
Changes to Project Numbering System.
Before 1 July 2007, project numbering was done on a national basis, with numbers such as AP004 (Rotary Club of Attadale's project ABC Nepal, helping the rehabilitation of Nepalese girls aged 7-18 who have been rescued from Indian brothels and circuses).

From 1 July 2007, a new Regional system was introduced and numbers for Western Region projects are now allocated in Western Region and include a code for the District in which the project is being managed, and the financial year in which the project was registered.

For example, WR507-08 is a Western Region project, managed by a club in District 9450, project 07 registered in financial year 2007-08.
Projects with 1 as the first number (e.g. WR104) are projects managed by Western Region on behalf of all three Districts.

Ongoing projects have been renumbered into this sequence, though the Treasurer retains a record of the former numbers and is able to allocate funds from those numbers.

Completed projects have not been renumbered into the new sequence.
